Kent Junior League Round 3: 19th Nov 2011: download
This was the last round of this year’s Kent Junior League and the team did very well indeed to finish fourth on the night and third in the table overall. Swimming to a couple of fabulous PBs were Becky Spain and Ollie Daw both in the 100m breaststroke whilst Luke McAdam’s 1.17.77 for the 100m IM was not only a PB but also a Kent Qualifying time. Alastair Sanders and Katie Baker in their last KJL gala for the team also managed to swim PBs in the 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle respectively despite only just breaking those same PBs the previous Saturday at the Arena gala! Charlotte Avery also took 4 seconds off her 100m front crawl time which is just amazing! Maddie Pettit (10) and Neve Deal(11) secured the only individual first places for the night in the 50m breaststroke and butterfly and the boys’ 12 yr freestyle relay team of Drew, Levi, Joe and Luke also came first.
Many thanks to everyone who helped out and we are looking forward to doing even better next season!
National Arena Round 2: 12th Nov 2011: download
The second round of this year’s Arena League saw us travel to Trinity School Croydon to do battle with Eltham, Edenbridge, Ashford, Redhill and 1066. This was a tough gala with first places hard to come by, it took two exceptional, county qualifying swims to secure our only two of the night. Neve Deal with a fabulous 50m fly in 38.10 and Luke McAdam with a brilliant 1.27.47 100m Breaststroke, well done both of you. There were however some excellent swims all round, the boys 9-11 relay teams notched up second place in both the freestyle and medley improving their time from round 1 and Levi and Luke W also won second places. In addition James Bray swam an impressive PB in the 100m breaststroke to give himself a Kent Qualifying time, well done James!
Overall we came third which was a fantastic and very well deserved result, and we are really looking forward to turning out the strongest team possible for the last round on December 10th.

Simon Watson Gala (Sittingbourne): 2nd July 2011 download
On one of our busy weekends this year we took a team to Sittingbourne for the 4th Annual Simon Watson Memorial Gala. Emma Watson was there to present the trophy to the winning club and it is a gala that we had never won.
Enter the team…..we had the most amazing night, 17 PBs and 24 first places including victories in the Breaststroke and Freestyle squadrons to win the gala convincingly. Many congratulations to all of you and many thanks to those swimmers who stepped in at the last minute and saved the day. See Photos in the GALLERY
We would also like to thank our wonderful parents who came just to watch but willingly leapt from their seats to help when it became apparent that there were not enough time keepers and judges to go round, and those who came direct from a long day at the Herne Bay Open to help officiate and swim.
Lastly, many thanks to Sittingbourne for hosting another fun gala.
Herne Bay Open: 2nd July 2011 download
This year’s Herne Bay Open gala on July 2nd turned out to be a very successful one for the Folkestone swimmers. Lucy Howes came 2nd in all four events notching up club records in the 14/15 100m Breaststroke and in the 14/15, Junior and Senior categories for the 100m Butterfly and just to ‘put the icing on the cake’ she won the Top Girl award for her age group! Angus Nisbet also had a fabulous day swimming PBs in all four events and then again in all four finals coming 1st in the Butterfly, 2nd in Freestyle and Breaststroke and 3rd in Backstroke which also won him ‘Top Boy’ in the 12/13 age group!
Luke McAdam, Joshua Bungay and Keleece Bull were also placed in the Top Girl and Top Boy report coming 5th, 5th and 6th respectively with Keleece making 3 of 4 finals and Luke and Josh picking up breaststroke medals.
Levi Atwell finished off the day with a bit of fast and furious fly swimming to come 2nd in the final of the boys’ 10/11.
Well Done everyone, amazingly Folkestone picked up enough points to come a respectable 5th of the ten teams competing!
